Whether you’re a fan of the fantasy writing of J.K. Rowling or the adventurous Jeff Kinney, there’s something about creative writing that appeals to us all. Join us for a writer workshop and learn how to create a storyline, character development, and dialogue. Let us teach you how to use your observation and imagination to write your best work. Students will participate with independent writing, paired and group writing, as well as analyzing excerpts from texts, films, and music. Get ready to complete one project and learn how to self-publish your work!

Don’t just read the news, report the news. Let us teach you how to organize and write an investigative journalism story. Imagine, the editor of a prominent newspaper gave you an assignment to write a feature article on a public problem. Get ready to dive deep into research, follow tips, and conduct interviews to write your story. Throughout the week, students learn writing techniques such as character development, illustrations, and discover their personal writing style. At the conclusion of the week, students submit their article to newspapers and online journals.

Broadcast News

We are going live in 3, 2, 1…Welcome to the Broadcast News Camp! Take on the role of a producer and learn how to coordinate, supervise, and manage the production of a television show. Research news stories, write copy for the news, and practice interview skills. Then, work with your team to produce a news segment. If your interested in learning about careers in Broadcasting, then join us and get ready to go live.
